Some Past Accomplishments

Schools

  • Renovated as new MHHS on time and under budget.

  • Built two artificial turf fields.

  • Built new High School track.

  • Resurfaced Tennis Courts as new.

  • Built restroom facilities at Rebel Turf Field.

  • $5 million renovation of the HS science wing.

  • Upgraded Town and School water infrastructure.

Town

  • Established a AAA bond rating during recession of 2008, one of only 200 municipalities to receive that rating. 

  • Created the Alert Now notification system.

  • Created the full-time Emergency Operations Center.

  • Built and established emergency radio communications for 1st responders including two new towers which increased coverage to 99% of Town.

  • Created emergency shelters and infrastructure at the HS and the Senior Center

  • Built a beautiful new Senior Center.

  • Protected historic houses and established  historic district.

  • reated free Family Movie program and Trunk or Treat program.

  • Multiple purchase of open space.,

  • Replaced Musket Ridge Bridge and 4 bridges across East Lake Brook

  • Brought water lines from Dunham Pond development to Town Center

  • Re-vitalized the Small Cities Program to help homeowners in need.

  • Working with local community members created the Dog Park. 

  • Spearheaded the five Towns response to the Candlewood Lake Shoreline Management Program to protect the rights of local homeowners.

  • Advocated for additional sterile carp to mitigate milfoil growth after noticing DEEP calculations were incorrect.

  • Was at the forefront of boating size restrictions and advocating for a boat sticker programs to create funding for lake programs.

  • Expanded streetscapes program including two new bridges over Ball Pond Brook and walkways from the Town Center to the Senior Center.

  • As Dunham Pond project was failing, pulled the performance bond and oversaw installation of infrastructure for phase 2 and the remediation of improper infrastructure for phase 1.
